Wednesdays with Wayne – Busy Weeks Ahead!
(Bill W) August 28, 2013 – Things are getting busy for the Wayne Johnson Racing #77x team. This weekend, they’ll head to three All Star shows in Ohio. Attica Raceway Park hosts on Friday and Saturday, before the series heads to Orrville and the Wayne County Speedway. From there, Wayne will head north to Ontario the following weekend, while hitting an ESS show in New York.
Last weekend, Wayne competed near home at Knoxville Raceway’s Season Championship night. “We weren’t good again,” he says. “It’s the same problem we’ve been having with the motor we had in. We were o.k. until it got slick. The tires start spinning down the straightaway and we’re no good on entry.”
Unfortunately for Wayne, the night ended in a DNF. He is excited to get to Attica. His only other trip there was with the World of Outlaws Gumout Series during the Brad Doty Classic ten years ago. He recalls turning over. “We’ll have our other motor in this week,” he says. “It throttles much better. The one we used Saturday just doesn’t fit my driving style as well. We’re making some changes here in Ohio with our program and we’re headed to Charlie’s (Fisher).”
Wayne has had some good results with the Fisher engine. “We ran sixth at Kokomo with the Outlaws and we ran well on the Friday night of the Nationals with it,” he says. “So we’re excited for Ohio this weekend.”
After this weekend, the team will turn to some 360 action. “The following week we’ll run the weekly show at Ohsweken Speedway on Friday, and then on Saturday, we’ll head to Utica-Rome in New York with the Empire Super Sprints,” says Wayne. “The Canadian Nationals back at Ohsweken will be the week after that. I have to thank Miles Hill for helping us out up there again.”

Wayne says, “We had some problems with our hauler this week around Fort Worth, and Bill Jewell helped get us back on the road. He fixed it, and put some “air tabs” on our truck. It saves us about a mile per gallon with our fuel mileage.”
