Inside Line Promotions – ROCK RAPIDS, Iowa (April 22, 2016) – Lee Grosz capitalized on Jody Rosenboom’s misfortune to claim the inaugural GoMuddy.com National Sprint League 360 Tri-State Region event on Friday at Rapid Speedway.
Rosenboom led the first 20 laps before his engine began pouring smoke as he drove into the infield with only five laps remaining. That brought out a caution and gave the lead to Grosz, who held off a hard charging Tim Kaeding for the triumph.
Kaeding put on a show himself as he rallied from his 18th starting position into eighth place by the midpoint of the feature. He advanced to sixth on Lap 16 and moved up a trio of positions during the caution for Rosenboom, which resulted in a red flag as Cody Hansen and Thomas Kennedy tangled while battling for fourth just as the caution flag was being waved.
Kaeding passed Ryan Bickett for the runner-up position on Lap 24 and posted the fastest lap of the race on the last circuit.
Bickett scored a third-place result with Jack Dover finishing fourth and Justin Jacobsma fifth.
Kaley Gharst, Seth Brahmer, Chris Martin, Dusty Ballenger and 21st-starting Tommy Barber rounded out the top 10, respectively.
Rosenboom, Brandon Halverson and Grosz each won a heat race earlier in the night.
The GoMuddy.com NSL 360 Tri-State Region returns to action May 6 at Rapid Speedway.
