Dover Ready for Races at Shelby County Speedway and Eagle Raceway This Weekend

Inside Line Promotions – BRANDON, S.D. (Sept. 5, 2023) – Jack Dover is eager for a trio of races this weekend in his No. 53 sprint car.

Dover will compete on Friday and Saturday at Shelby County Speedway in Harlan, Iowa, during the Cyclone Classic before venturing to Eagle Raceway in Eagle, Neb., on Sunday for the Stewart Alley Memorial presented by Tyler Perry Enterprises.

“I’m aiming for top 10s considering I don’t do much 410 stuff in my car,” he said. “We have speed in my car and I think we can battle for top fives, but to come out with top 10s would be awesome. And at Eagle I expect to contend for the win. We’ve won a lot of races there.”

Dover is coming off a weekend of being hampered by high pill draws at Huset’s Speedway, which hosted the Bull Haulers Brawl presented by Folkens Brothers Trucking.

Dover lined up eighth in a Gunderson Racing Inc. Midwest Sprint Touring Series and QualityFreightRate.com Midwest Power Series 360 sprint cars heat race on Saturday. He finished sixth to garner the 19th starting spot in the A Main.

“Pill draws hampered us,” he said. “The track was too good in the heat races and there wasn’t much passing. That set us back in the features.”

Dover climbed to 12th, which was tied for the second-most positions gained.

He then finished where he started – fifth – in a heat race on Sunday. That ranked him 20th in points to start the main event on the outside of the 10th row.

“We were passing for seventh and we had mechanical problems,” he said. “It was a big letdown. We don’t want DNFs, which is my biggest thing. To be somewhat fast and compete for a top five after starting 20th then have a DNF was a letdown.”

Dover was credited with a 15th-place result.
