Inside Line Promotions – KANSAS CITY, Kan. (Oct. 26, 2021) – Debris ended the night early for Jack Dover last Friday during the FVP Platinum Battery Showdown.

Dover, who was driving for Chris and Rick Bowers, was in contention to transfer into the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series main event at Lakeside Speedway when he was forced to exit the track after hitting debris late in the Last Chance Showdown.

“We ran over a nerf bar and that popped our right rear tire,” he said. “If it wasn’t for that I think we would have made the A Main.”

The night was a work in progress for Dover, who qualified 23rd quickest and placed sixth in a heat race to miss locking into the A Main by only one spot.

“The track was heavy and too good,” he said. “Everyone was fast and there wasn’t much passing until feature-time. We don’t do this enough to advance a couple of spots in a heat race like we needed to.”

Dover competed in the Last Chance Showdown and was running fifth late in the race when a driver in front of him blew a tire. That would have elevated Dover to fourth in the running order, putting him in the final transfer position. However, Dover went to the pits after running over the debris, which flattened a tire.

“I just glanced it and then the tire went down,” he said. “We didn’t have a handle on the car all night. We kept throwing stuff at it and it was getting a little better each time, but it wasn’t feeling how I wanted it to. I’m not sure how it would have gone if we made the main event.

“I want to thank Chris and Rick Bowers for the opportunity this year. That’s not how we wanted our last race to go, but I’m grateful for their support and pleased with the success we had this season.”
