Dover Garners Dozen Wins and Championship During Strong Season

Inside Line Promotions – SPRINGFIELD, Neb. (Dec. 3, 2018) – Jack Dover won more than a quarter of his starts this year during another stout season for the sprint car veteran.
Dover posted a dozen feature victories, a mark he has met or exceeded during five of the last six seasons. Additionally, he powered to his third Carpet Land Nebraska 360 Sprints championship in the last four years.
“It shows how consistent our team was,” he said. “Any time you can win a championship it’s pretty awesome.”
Dover noted one of his greatest weekends of the season came during Labor Day Weekend as he captured the Midwest Power Equipment 360 Nationals presented by DeKalb/Asgrow at Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minn.
“It was three separate nights and we were able to run first, third and first,” he said. “It was pretty awesome. We got to the final night and right before the main event we broke a bolt on the rear end so we had to switch rear ends. Other than that everything fell into place and the weekend went smooth. It was a good weekend for that to happen.”
It marked two of Dover’s nine Midwest Sprint Touring Series triumphs, which set a record for most wins in a season with the series. Dover led the championship standings until late in the season when he missed a couple of races. However, he still finished fourth.
“We were leading the MSTS points late in the season,” he said. “We would have had a good shot at winning it if they didn’t have races scheduled on the same night with the Carpet Land Nebraska 360 Sprints.”
In addition to the 360 Nationals wins, Dover picked up a triumph at Jackson Motorplex on June 15 to give him three trips to Victory Lane this season at the 4/10-mile oval. He also won multiple races at Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, Neb. (June 9 and Sept. 8); at Wagner Speedway in Wagner, S.D. (July 6-7); and at Park Jefferson International Speedway in Jefferson, S.D. (May 26 and Aug. 25).
Additionally, Dover was victorious at Rapid Speedway in Rock Rapids, Iowa, on May 18; at U.S. 36 Raceway in Osborn, Mo., on June 8; and at Off Road Raceway in Norfolk, Neb., on Aug. 18.
“We were strong everywhere we went,” he said. “I want to say a huge thank you to all my partners, fans and my family for their support.”
Dover will compete in a pair of offseason events in January. He will race for Ben Zahm in the outlaw and non-wing outlaw divisions during the Tulsa Shootout, which marks his first time competing in the event since 2009. He won a Golden Driller during the event in 2004. Dover will then drive for Randy Washburn and C.J. Johnson during the Chili Bowl Midget Nationals. It will be Dover’s first time racing in the event since his debut in 2008.
