WINDOM SEEKING SILVER CROWN REPEAT SUNDAY

Chris Windom became USAC's 99th Silver Crown Championship race winner last September when he won the season-closing "4-Crown Nationals" at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio. He'd like nothing better than to repeat when the 2014 series debuts Sunday in the "Sumar Classic" at the Terre Haute (Ind.) Action Track.

The 2013 Silver Crown "Rookie of the Year" finished second to Bobby East in last year's standings and hopes to move one notch up the ladder this year, piloting the RW/Curb-Agajanian Motorsports Curb Records/Driver Racing Oil Beast/Toyota.

The Canton, Ill. veteran has a dozen Silver Crown starts and already has five "top-fives." The 2011 Indiana Sprint Week Champion has also recorded nine wins in the tough Sprint car ranks. In 2006 he won USAC's Kenyon Midget title.

"Terre Haute is one of my favorite stops of the year," says Windom. "I'm really looking forward to getting back behind the wheel of the RW #17 this weekend."

Chris will face formidable competition on Sunday, where practice starts at 4 pm and racing begins at 7.

Former "Sumar Classic" champion Dave Darland (2008) headlines an all-star cast which includes defending series king Bobby East, 2013 USAC National Dirt Midget Champion Christopher Bell, former series champs Tracy Hines and Jerry Coons Jr. and a host of drivers hoping to become USAC's 100th different Silver Crown feature race winner.

Josh Wise holds the 1-lap Terre Haute Silver Crown track record of 20-139 seconds set in 2005 and Gary Bettenhausen's 1980 100-lap race record of 50:37.20 still stands as the 100-lap mark.

The UMP Modifieds will also be in action Sunday making for a variety of racing action on the fast Terre Haute dirt.
