Weaver Returns to the Driver's Seat at Rome

Cameron Weaver returned to action for the first time in over a month on Saturday evening at Rome (Ga.) Speedway as the legendary oval reopened after being closed for a year.

The Crate Racin' USA Dirt Late Model Series program drew 59 entries to the famed oval for the $10,000-to-win Thunder in the Mountain event.

Cameron qualified sixth fastest in his time trial group before slipping to a seventh-place finish in his heat race.

With the Tennessee driver buried deep in a B-Main grid, he elected to retire from the event to save his equipment.
