$10,000-to-win Johnny Mulligan Classic at Ponderosa Speedway Next Up

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (07/05/22) – Eli Beets parked his TMC No. 109 C&C Specialized Trucking / Capital Race Car / Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model in Victory Lane on Saturday night at Lake Cumberland Speedway in the Hall of Fame 40.

The Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Series triumph rewarded Beets with a $5,000 check as his 2022-win total increased to four.

“Lake Cumberland (Speedway) has been really good to us this year, and we were able to sweep the program again on Saturday. In fact Kentucky has been good to us this year because that’s where all four of our wins have come,” Beets shared. “We’re looking forward to returning to Ponderosa (Speedway) this Friday to take a shot at that $10,000 top prize.

“A big thank you to my family, my team, and everyone who supports my racing program to make it all possible.”

Eli Beets kicked off his Independence Day weekend on Friday afternoon with a visit to Boyd’s Speedway (Ringgold, Ga.) for the Valvoline Iron-Man Southern Series-sanctioned Stars and Stripes 40.

Earning the 10th-starting position for the A-Main via qualifying results, Beets inched forward two spots in the 40-lap affair to finish eighth.

On Saturday afternoon at Lake Cumberland Speedway (Burnside, Ky.) for the Hall of Fame 40, Eli pulled off a clean sweep of the program to secure his fourth win of the season. After topping the 22-car field in time trials, Beets led wire-to-wire in the feature to claim the $5,000 prize.

With the win Beets has topped the action at the Kentucky oval three times this season.

For the weekend finale on Sunday at Tazewell Speedway (Tazewell, Tenn.), Beets locked his spot into the $5,000-to-win A-Main with the second-fastest lap in his time trial group. Carrying a steady pace in the 40-lapper, Eli notched a fourth-place finish. He followed Ricky Weiss, Michael Chilton, and Vic Hill across the line with Matt Tharp coming in fifth.

Beets will return to the Bluegrass State this Friday in pursuit of the $10,000 top prize in the Johnny Mulligan Classic at Ponderosa Speedway (Junction City, Ky.). The program is sanctioned by the Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Series, and Eli won with the tour at the facility back in June and will look to carry that knowledge and momentum into this Friday’s show.
