Baughman Wins at Abilene Speedway to Create Momentum into Short Track Nationals
Inside Line Promotions – ABILENE, Texas (Oct. 22, 2013) – After taking a couple of weeks off, Josh Baughman is recharged.
He picked up his first victory of the season last Saturday during an IMCA 305ci race at Abilene Speedway for the Ryan Bard Memorial. Baughman claimed his heat race after starting third and he led all 20 laps of the feature.
“I haven’t been back in a 305 for over a year,” he said. “It was a small track kinda like Little Rock so I think it’ll help me going into Little Rock.”
It creates momentum heading into the 26th Annual COMP Cams Short Track Nationals presented by Hoosier Tires, which is Wednesday through Saturday at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark. It will mark the second straight season Baughman has tackled the $15,000-to-win Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour event.
The goal this year is simple.
“Stay out of trouble and finish a race,” Baughman said with a chuckle. “That place is so hard. There’s so many cars there. Our goal would be to make the show. Just to make the show at Short Track Nationals is a big deal.”
Baughman finished fifth in a B Main – three spots out of a transfer – during his preliminary night and ended 10th in a C Main during the finale last season at the quarter-mile oval.
