PETERSEN MEDIA- With California schedules limited in the Fall, Justyn Cox, and C&M Motorsports made the decision to travel to Wheatland, MO and take part in the Jesse Hockett Memorial over the weekend.

“We learned a ton at a new place,” Justyn Cox said. “We had some small issues during the three nights of action, but this team really worked their tails off, and I am very thankful to have had the opportunity to travel back to Missouri.”

Kicking off the first of three nights of action at Lucas Oil Speedway on Thursday night, Cox would pick up a heat race win aboard the Moorefield Construction/Berco Redwood/Legacy Specialties, Inc. backed No. 7c machine.

Moving into a qualifier, Cox would finish fifth, before finishing second in the ‘B.’ Making a trip to the Last Chance Qualifier, Cox’s fifth-place finish was good enough to transfer him into the feature event where he would take the green flag from the 21st starting position.

With the track extremely slick and taking rubber early in the feature, Cox would pick up a few positions as they came to him as he worked his way to a 16th place finish during a non-stop feature event.

Friday night would get off to a little bit of a slower start for the C&M Motorsports team as Cox would finish eighth in his heat from the ninth starting position and then advanced from 10th to sixth in his qualifier.

Moving into the “B,” Cox would advance from the 12th starting position to finish fourth. Still forced into the Last Chance Qualifier, Cox would battle a steering box issue as his night ended with a 14th place finish.

Saturday night, qualifiers would be lined up off of event points, and Cox found himself in the fifth starting position in the first qualifier of the night.

Slipping back to seventh, Cox would battle back up to finish fifth, and he would move into one of the night’s ‘B” Main events. Advancing from sixth to fourth in the semi, Cox would make a top in the LCQ for one final shot at qualifying for the feature event.

Lining up 11th, Cox would work his way up to the sixth and final transfer position until he admittedly made a couple of mistakes and missed his line causing him to fall back to eighth and miss the transfer into the feature.

“Saturday night, I had us in a position to transfer and made the same mistake two laps in a row, and it cost us two spots and knocked us out of the transfer,” Cox added. “Still, it was a fun trip, and I have to thank Cody, Cori Guy, Tom Kennedy, and Cody Cook for all of their help and for working so hard. I also have to thank Lucas Boland and Kyle Miller for their help with our engine change on Thursday night. Hoping we can travel a little more to some special events in 2021.”

The C&M Motorsports team would like to thank Moorefield Construction, Berco Redwood, Barry Lumber, Inc., Legacy Specialties, Inc. PT Shocks, Swartz Diesel, Alturas Tires, and all of their product sponsors for their continued support.
