Covington Ready For Iowa Race Week
Matt Covington Racing – Glenpool, Ok. (Aug 2, 2023) Matt Covington and crew are prepped and ready to roll for their qualifying night on Friday at the famed Knoxville Raceway for the 33rd Xtream powered by Mediacom 360 Nationals. The race week will also include Saturday’s 360 National's final and Sunday’s 410 Capitani Classic.
This past week Covington ran with the All-Stars at Lake Ozark Speedway and Knoxville Raceway with the 410 under the hood.
Covington’s return to 410 racing showed promise and speed. Matt was running inside the top-10 at LOS before a bent front wheel half sidelined him. Saturday at Knoxville was a great tune up and learning experience after narrowly missing the feature lock-in during the heat, and then running the B-Main where he missed the transfer.
“We are very optimistic and excited to get these next couple of weeks of racing underway,” stated Covington. “The car felt good at LOS for our first time back in a 410 after a few years. Saturday, I think we accomplished what we needed to, just getting the experience to get the car dialed in for nationals. We have the equipment and the motors to get good results if we can hit a decent setup and I do my part. Our goal is to make the 360 A-main and then be competitive at the 410 Nationals.”
Up next for Matt is a week full of racing in Iowa. This week will host the 360 Nationals and Capitani Classic at Knoxville raceway. Starting next week will be a trip to Southern Iowa Raceway for the Osky Front Row challenge, and then back to Knoxville Raceway for the 410 Nationals.
