Covington Ready to Get Back on Track and Close out August Up-front
CG Motorsports- Glenpool, Ok. (Aug 23, 2017) After a long stretch of racing during August, Matt Covington and the team will tackle this week in hopes of getting back on track and building momentum for this last stretch of the 2017 season.
Covington came off a rough patch of engine troubles and disappointing results at Knoxville Raceway, followed by a 17th place finish last weekend at State Fair Speedway in Sedalia, Mo.
“It’s definitely been a rough and frustrating month of August,” stated Covington. “We hurt a motor right before the 360 Nationals and been struggling to get back on track ever since. We were off-sync and never had speed in addition to engine trouble during both, the 360 and 410 Nationals. Then this past weekend in Missouri, during the heat race, we blew out a water jacket block-off plate gasket. We had to change motors and didn’t have a lot of time to make changes that were needed, so we struggled during the feature. Hopefully we got the bad luck and issues behind us and can start getting our consistency and speed back. Our goal this weekend is to get back to the same level of performance we were at before Knoxville.”
