Cole Vanderheiden Set for Sophomore Sprint Car Season
15-year-old Cole Vanderheiden is eagerly anticipating his sophomore season in the IMCA RaceSaver 305 Sprint Car division.
The Nebraska racer currently has over four dozen races in his crosshairs for the upcoming campaign aboard his Copps Pizza Company / Bradco Companies / 316 Strategy Group No. 15v Baker Boyds Racing Suspension / Chariots 4 Hope Sprinter.
Cole heads into his second year in a full-size Sprint Car with experience and confidence in his corner after a 2022 season, which saw him score two wins, seven Top-5 finishes, and 26 Top-10 finishes in 50 events.
“It was a big adjustment going from Micro Sprints to 305 Sprint Cars last year, but we learned something new every time we hit the track. Last year we started the year with pretty much zero notes, and this year we get to start with a complete notebook,” Vanderheiden said. “The competition definitely won’t be any easier this year, but we’ll be far more prepared. I appreciate my family, sponsors, crew, fans, and everyone who supports this program and makes it possible.”
Cole’s focus for 2023 includes a run at the track titles at Eagle (Neb.) Raceway and Huset’s Speedway (Brandon, S.D.). He’ll also plans to visit a bevy of other tracks throughout the year, including Interstate Speedway (Jefferson, S.D.), Shelby County Speedway (Harlan, IA), Beatrice (Neb.) Speedway, U.S. 30 Speedway (Columbus, Neb.), and Southern (Oskaloosa) Iowa Speedway.
The first event of the year for the driver known as “The ColeTrain” is scheduled for March 31 at Shelby County Speedway in the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car ranks.
