After finding considerable speed with his DRE motors, KC was determined to put it all together for the fourth point show of the indoor season at Emma Missouri. The ice and snow that cancelled school on Friday put the trip south in jeopardy but Saturday morning presented with the opportunity for the team to head south.

Box Stock (6 karts)
Heat (10 laps):

Jayden Alexander and Micah Haugan paced the field to the green with Alexander taking the early lead but the field was called back when the back bumper came detached and was laying on the track from the Anthony Guessford kart sending him to the infield.

The restart was single file allowing Alexander to open up a bit of a lead as the rest of the field sorted out. KC Sparks was able to quickly move around the Haugan machine and start his pursuit of Alexander.

Meanwhile Nixon Heiderscheidt was moving up from his last place starting position in his first visit to the Emma Raceway. He was battling with the current point leader, Haley Allen, as they both tried to move ahead of Haugan. On lap four Allen was able to get a nose under Haugan and both drivers moved up.

Sparks was patient and able to overtake Alexander for the top spot on lap six getting a drive off the bottom of turn two and having the line into the next set of turns to move Alexander back to second.

Half a lap behind the leaders Heiderscheidt was working over the back bumper of Allen and made a bold move to her outside going into turn three to claim the third position from her.

Finish 1. Sparks (3) 2. Alexander (1) 3. Heiderscheidt (6) 4. Allen (4) 5. Haugan (2) 6 DNF Guessford (5)

Feature (20 laps)
Based on the passing points from the heat, a pair of DRE motors sat side by side on the front row with Sparks setting the pace and Heiderscheidt alongside.

In the green white checkered event, the drivers were making smart and clean decisions. Sparks quickly pulled out to a comfortable lead while Haugen moved up a position into the top four behind the power of his DRE motor.

The field continued to click off sub 11 second laps with Sparks out front, Heiderscheidt in second and Allen third.

As Sparks neared the halfway point, he also was quickly closing on the back of the field where Guessford and Alexander were in a back and forth battle. Sparks was able to pick his line and cleanly move past Guessford getting into turn three and Alexander entering turn one. Guessford followed Sparks past Alexander and the back duo continued their battle as Sparks put more distance on the field.

Lap thirteen saw Heiderscheidt fighting his way through the traffic. He was able to move around Guessford quickly but took a couple laps to get clear of Alexander.

Sparks’ kart started to tighten up on the exit of turn two but he was able to rely on his lead he had built up earlier to drive to his first win of 2021 and his first feature win at Emma in his fourth try ahead of a closing Heiderscheidt.

Finish: 1 Sparks (1) 2. Heiderscheidt (2) 3. Allen ( 4) 4. Haugan (5) 5. Alexander (3) 6. Guessford (6)
