Bellm Banks another Top Five; Tripleheader this Weekend
Lonnie Wheatley, NIXA, Mo. (June 28, 2018) – Kyle Bellm and the No. 14k Sprint Car team certainly have things clicking right now as the Nixa, MO, racer notched another top-five finish in last Saturday night’s ASCS Warrior Region event at Legit Speedway Park in West Plains, MO.
With finishes of fourth or better in four of the last five outings, Bellm and the Greenworks Nursery/Landscapes Awarded Sprint Car team will try to keep building momentum with this weekend’s set of Warrior Region events in the Show-Me State.
The weekend triple kicks off Friday night atop Sedalia’s historic half-mile at the Missouri State Fairgrounds. From there, action shifts to Eldon’s Lake Ozark Speedway on Saturday before wrapping up at California’s Double X Speedway on Sunday night.
Last Saturday’s outing at Legit Speedway Park began with Bellm driving the Christian County Collision Repair/Bybee Lawn Care entry from sixth to second in heat race action. He then gridded the feature on the front row outside aboard the PPG Automotive Finishes/Colorvision machine.
“We were fast in the heat, then we tightened it up too much for the feature,” Bellm explains.
Even with a tight car, Bellm held down second much of the way before settling for fourth at the line in the VP Racing Fuels/Schure Built Suspensions/Schaeffers Racing Oil entry.
“We were second the entire race until the final corner, I got a little too high and let those two cars by,” Bellm says. “We had a second-place car and should have held on for second.”
Still, another top-five has the team continuing to make positive progress.
“It’s another top-five, so we’ll take it,” Bellm says. “I’m looking forward to what are three good tracks for us this weekend.”
Bellm has been close to parking it at Sedalia in the past, picked off a handful of Lake Ozark wins last season and scored his first win of this season atop the Double X clay less than two weeks ago. It could be a prime weekend for Bellm to add some notches to the win column.
2018 Quick Stats: 17 races, 1 win, 6 top-fives, 9 top-tens.
Up Next: ASCS Warrior Region at Sedalia’s Missouri State Fair Speedway on Friday, Eldon’s Lake Ozark Speedway on Saturday and California’s Double X Speedway on Sunday.
