SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST: McFadden Masters Traffic at Placerville to Deliver Home State Win for Roth Motorsports

In the most intense bout of lap traffic all year long, James McFadden was patient yet aggressive enough to survive a wild 35-laps at Placerville Speedway on Saturday night.

Starting from the outside pole, McFadden quickly moved the Roth Motorsports #83 into the lead ahead of pole sitter Zeb Wise, who would challenge J-Mac all race long.

Going green for the first 31 laps, things got hairy on the tight bullring as lap traffic continually kept the battle for the lead in play. Wise briefly stole the lead on Lap 11, controlling at least one lap in the Rudeen Racing #26 before McFadden quickly seized it back.

The race took a dramatic turn on Lap 31 when McFadden, Wise, and Sanders were engaged in a three-way war for the lead with only four laps to go... when chaos struck.

As lap car Jamie Veal slowed, Wise had nowhere to go and tangled with him down the backstretch only for fourth-running Brad Sweet to run out of road and directly hit the #26 at full speed. Both were okay but Wise's chance at the win was gone and Sweet was sent to the Rod End Supply Work Area.

From there, McFadden survived the final four laps and held off Justin Sanders to claim his second Kubota High Limit Racing victory, and first since June 2 at Butler Motor Speedway. This time, it came in California, the home state of car owners Dennis and Teresa Roth.

Justin Sanders followed the Roth #83 to the line for a career-best P2 finish with the series, while Corey Day closed out the podium in his Jason Meyers Racing #14.

Rounding out the top-10 at Placerville was Andy Forsberg, Cory Eliason, Kasey Kahne, Cole Macedo, Justin Peck, Ryan Bernal, and Shane Golobic.
