Mullens fourth in Fall Jamboree opener at Deer Creek Speedway
Taking part in the 24th annual Featherlite Fall Jamboree, Tanner Mullens invaded Deer Creek Speedway (Spring Valley, Minn.) on Thursday afternoon for the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) three-day event. (Tyler Rinken photos)
In a stout field of 63 Modifieds, Mullens secured his spot into the $3,000-to-win prelim with a heat race victory. Moving forward four spots in the 30-lap affair, Tanner raced to a fourth-place finish. He trailed Lucas Schott, Darron Fuqua, and Rodney Sanders to the checkers with Jake O’Neil coming in fifth.
On Friday, Tanner followed up a sixth-to-fourth showing in his heat with a third-place finish in his B-Main. Improving one spot in the feature, Mullens crossed the line in 18th.
For Saturday’s finale, Mullens secured his spot into the $12,000-to-win Featherlite Fall Jamboree with a consolation victory after placing fourth in his heat. Rolling off on the 10th row, Tanner passed eight cars in the 50-lapper to register an 11th-place finish.
Tanner sits in second in the latest USMTS point standings.
