Hagar Records Runner-Up Result During Season Finale at Riverside

Inside Line Promotions – WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. (Nov. 11, 2014) – Derek Hagar powered to his 26th top five of the year last Saturday at Riverside International Speedway during his season finale.

The result, combined with his career-best 16 feature wins in 2014, meant he earned a top-five finish in more than half of his races this season.

“I’m pretty happy with it,” he said. “It’s a good way to go into the offseason. We ended the year with two strong weekends.”

Hagar kicked off Saturday night by winning his heat race from the pole position.

“I got a good start and led the whole thing,” he said. “The race track got better and better and the car kept getting tighter and tighter. Luckily we were in clean air and I could run the car the way I wanted to.”

That put Hagar third in overall points, which started him on the inside of the second row for the 20-lap feature.

“I ran in third for a little while behind Tim Crawley,” he said. “It was probably Lap 12 or 13 and he got together with a lapped car. They hooked bumpers and spun out. On the restart I tried to go up in the cushion and cut across the bottom to get a run. It tripped up on the right front and biked real hard. I saved it and kinda just rode the rest of the race trying to protect my position.”

Hagar ended with a runner-up result.
