Eric Schulz
Back in the Saddle
Sioux Falls native Eric Schulz climbed back into a Sprint Car after three weeks of recovery and re-grouping. Saturday night at Jackson Speedway Schulz meet up with car owner Dick Veenkers and got back into the swing of things. “It sure does feel good to get back into the car and turn some laps,” stated Eric. The number 4 Sprinter out of Windom MN had to start in the rear of the second heat race after sitting out for those weeks. Finishing in 5th for the heat, Schulz would also have to start in the back of the main event as well. When the green flag dropped, the rear tires spun hard and Eric let one slip past right away. “The track slicked off more than we expected, I tried a bunch of different lines around the track, however I found the most traction in a mud hole on the bottom of the track.” Schulz worked on the cars in front of him for most of the race. Slowly the car became more and more ill handling as the race wore on. “We missed on the set up tonight, but learned quite a bit on what the car needs. Next week is the Jackson Nationals, we will be stronger then!”
Meanwhile Schulz’ own car is just getting finished up with the roll cage alterations that the 6’4” driver requires to maintain a safe amount of room for his head in the event of a roll over. “We hope to have everything back in the shop early this week and get the car put back together for the final show in Rock Rapids,” exclaimed Schulz
