Minnesota Missile Monday: Sparks Takes Win in Emma

Seven Box Stock drivers traveled to Emma, Missouri from Minnesota, Iowa, and South Dakota to battle on the dirt for the win in the 7th point show of the indoor season. The single heat with passing points format was utilized to set the field for the 20 lap feature event.
Anthony Guessford used his second place run in the heat to accumulate enough passing points to earn his first pole position of the year with Kaden Rice lining up alongside for the feature event. At the drop of the green, it was Guessford jumping ahead of Rice with KC Sparks filling in the space on the low side of the track to move ahead of Rice down the backstretch. Guessford led the opening lap with Sparks looking to his inside as they drove into turn one. Haylie Allen and Hunter Hanson were battling for fourth just behind the lead pack.
Down the backstretch, Sparks was able to move under Guessford with Rice following and moving Guessford back to third. Rice was not going to settle there and down the front stretch, made a drive to the inside of Sparks. Sparks was able to hold the position as they drove through the turn and down the back. Going into turn three, Sparks lifted to keep his kart from spinning while Rice made a charge to the inside. As Sparks throttled back up, Rice was into the side of the kart and the two skidded to a stop at the exit of turn four.
Sparks was given his position back while Rice was charged with the caution and sent to the tail of the field. When the green restarted the field, Sparks again fought a loose kart as he turned sideways in front of the field causing Allen and Rice to spin to avoid hitting other drivers. Everyone was given spots back as they all continued without stopping on the track.
The next restart was the start of a long green flag run for the field. Sparks settled into a rhythm and slowly increased his lead on the field as the laps clicked off. Rice was the driver on the move, coming from the tail and picking off the competition one at a time for five consecutive laps.
At the halfway point, Rice had cleared the field, but had nearly half a lap to make up on Sparks. Lapped traffic came into play as Sierra Rose Gary showed a lot of speed but mistakes made her difficult to pass. As Sparks was timing his pass on Gary, Rice was closing.
Sparks was able to move around Gary and reopen his lead as Rice also took a couple laps to maneuver around her. In the final laps, Sparks was able to cruise to the feature win making it his third on the season at Emma. Rice fought back for second. On the white flag lap, Hanson made a pass on Allen out of turn two and she motored back out of turn four to take third ahead of Hanson and Guessford in fifth.
Micah Haugan came home a close sixth as he spent the feature glued to the pack of third through sixth place drivers. Gary rounded out the field in seventh with all drivers finishing.
