Ballou Back On Kokomo Podium; Two-Race Weekend Ahead

PETERSEN MEDIA: Able to put a tough Friday and Saturday behind him last weekend, Robert Ballou was back on the Kokomo Speedway podium on Sunday night and will look to build off that finish in an upcoming two-race weekend.

“Friday and Saturday went pretty bad for us, but Sunday it felt like we were on to something,” Ballou added. “We had speed, so when we can get the balance dialed in I really think we will be competing for wins regularly.”

Friday night at Lincoln Park Speedway with the USAC National Sprint Car Series, Ballou would get off to a tough start as he timed in 21st fastest in time trials. Finishing third in his heat race, Ballou would move into the feature event where he would grid the field from the 17th starting position.

From the ninth row, Ballou was able to work his way forward and crack the Top-10 as the laps wound down. Manhandling his machine, Ballou would take the checkered flag in the ninth position as he finds himself fourth in the National point standings.

Hanging around Lincoln Park Speedway on Sataurday night to race with the MSCS, Ballou would find himself on the pole of his heat race aboard his Dickinson Farms/Lucas Oil Products/Abreu Vineyards machine.

Racing his way to the win, the Rocklin, CA native would grid the field from the front row for the feature event as he chased after his third feature event win of the season.

Slipping back to the third position, Ballou would find himself in contention as he chased after the lead duo. While running in the third position, Ballous right front shock would fail and it would result in him getting upside down and bringing his night to an end.

Traveling to Kokomo Speedway on Sunday night, Ballou would continue to show speed as he did on Saturday as he would again win his heat race and find himself in a great position for the feature event.

Jumping into second, Ballou would chase after race leader Chris Windom. Able to hang with Windom during the 25-lap affair, Ballou would be unable to get a run and challenge for the top spot as he was a tick on the tight side.

Continuing to give it all he could, Ballou would cap his weekend with a second place finish as he readies for another busy upcoming weekend.

“We were fast, and I really feel like we are getting there,” Ballou said. “We will run a couple of shows this weekend and see if we can gain on it and hopefully get ourselves where we need to be.”

Robert Ballou would like to thank Dickinson Farms, Lucas Oil Products, Abreu Vineyards, Deaton’s Waterfront Service, Rossie Feed and Grain, Unique Breedz, Suburban Subaru, Jamie Davidson Scrap Metal, Twister-X, Hinchman Indy, Don Ott Racing Engines, Manvel Motorsports, Blakesley Auto, Olson Custom Design, Konnected Clothing, Hooker Harness, Indy Race Parts, Hoosier Tire, Schoenfeld Headers, ISC Racers Tape, Chalk Racing Products, Keizer Aluminum Wheels, Saldana Racing Products, and Bell Helmets for their support.

ON TAP: Ballou will be Bloomington Speedway on Friday night and at Tri-State Speedway on Saturday night.
