Midwest Sprint Touring Series
TONIGHT: MSTS season championship at Rapid Nationals
The Property Solutions of America Midwest Sprint Touring Series ends the 2018 season Friday night at Rapid Speedway in Rock Rapids, Iowa. The opening night of the Rapid Nationals also features USRA stock cars, b-modifieds, hobby stocks and sportsmen.
Lee Grosz looks to finalize the 2018 MSTS title at the event. Grosz has found victory lane at Rapid Speedway twice this season. The Harwood, North Dakota, drive took the May 4 win over Matt Juhl and Dusty Ballenger. The #4J was back in victory lane on July 17 at the Randy Droescher Memorial where he edged out Jack Dover and Eric Lutz.
Dover enters the weekend sitting second in the series standings. The leader of the Carpet Land Nebraska 360 Sprint Series presented by Malvern Bank took a Rapid Speedway win on May 18.
The race for third in the standings is a close one. Jody Rosenboom holds a five point edge over Eric Lutz. Each driver has taken one trophy on the 2018 MSTS trail. Rosenboom topped the field in Norfolk, Nebraka, at Off Road Speedway. Lutz was the winner of the season opening South Dakota Sprint Car Nationals at Park Jefferson Speedway. Through the previous three MSTS events at Rapids Speedway this year, Rosenboom has scored finishes of 17th, 16th and 5th while Lutz has placed 5th, 18th and 3rd there this year.
Gregg Bakker completes the top five in the standings. The second five include Brant O’Banion, Tommy Barber, Ryan Bickett, Dylan Opdahl and Cody Ledger.
Friday’s event is scheduled to start with hot laps at 7 p.m. Ticket prices are as follows:
Adults: $15
Ages 7-14: $5
6 and younger: Free
Saturday’s conclusion of the Rapid Nationals will be headlined by the Tri-State Late Model Series.
