Taborski's Season is Underway!

First Run of the season came at the Salem Indoor Raceway
Results:
Heat 1: 3rd to 1st
Heat 2: DNF
Main Event: Last to 2nd

After not touching the track in over three years, Austin wasn't sure really what to expect, but he never lost a bit of confidence as he rolled onto the track Friday night for practice.
After a few sessions of knocking the rust off and getting the setup going in the right direction, they were ready for the races on Saturday Night.
In his first heat race, he started third and was pretty aggressive getting to the front, after an early caution, Austin shot up the inside of the leader and took the lead. From there it was a matter of consistency and more laps under his belt. He ended up winning by about a straightway over the rest of the field.
In his second heat race, he started outside front row and took off to an early race lead. About 4-5 laps in, Austin's car had a mechanical failure pulling him to a stop. The bolts on the chain sprocket came loose, making the sprocket fall apart, and made it to where the car could no longer drive forward. Ending his race.

Due to his DNF, Taborski had to start Dead Last in the 20 Lap main event.
When the green flag dropped, Austin made an aggressive charge towards the front of the field, and in a matter of 3 laps, Austin was already up to 3rd closing in on the leaders. Around lap 5-6 he got up to 2nd and was pushing a lot of pressure on leader Cole Curry. Austin got to the inside of Curry to take the lead, but the caution came out and would set him back. From there it was a caution fest, they could not get a clean green flag running, and it resulted in them cutting the race short and had a one lap shootout where Austin would end up 2nd.

While visibly disappointed and frustrated, Austin congratulated the young Cole Curry on his first Open 600 Night Show win.

Coming into March, Austin's next race will be at Dixon Speedway for points race #1 on March 11th.
