Drake Troutman scores fifth-place finish in Bristol Dirt Nationals
On Tuesday afternoon, Drake Troutman kicked off the inaugural Bristol Dirt Nationals at the famed Bristol Motor Speedway (Bristol, Tenn.) for a round of qualifying features. With the pit area stacked with over 100 Modifieds from all over the country, Troutman marched forward eight spots in his heat race to register a fifth place finish. With time constraints and the track’s curfew shifting his feature to mid-day Wednesday, Drake jumped up two spots in the 20-lapper to finish third, trailing Rich Michael Jr. and Curt Spalding across the line with Aaron Branham and Dave Pinkerton rounding out the Top-5.
Persistent rain wiped out Thursday’s program.
Earning the ninth-starting position for Saturday night’s $10,000-to-win A-Main, Troutman clawed forward four spots in the 20-lap affair to place fifth, following Kyle Strickler, Matt Crafton, Michael Asberry, and Curt Spalding across the line.
