Drake Troutman

Top-5 finish in Hell Tour stop at Macon Speedway

On Tuesday afternoon, Drake Troutman picked back up with the DIRTcar Summer Nationals as the mini-series traveled to Knox County Raceway (Knoxville, Ill.) to compete on the half-mile oval. Following a second-place finish in his heat race in his Late Model, Drake dropped three spots in the 30-lap feature to register a ninth-place finish. (Josh James Artwork)

After starting the night off with a heat race victory in his Modified, Troutman was favoring an overheating motor in the feature but still managed a runner-up finish. He followed Nick Hoffman across the line with Zeke McKenzie, Ray Bollinger, and Jacob Rexing rounding out the Top-5.

The following night at Spoon River Speedway (Banner, Ill.), Troutman came in fifth in his Late Model heat before falling short of a transfer position into the A-Main with a fourth-place finish in his B-Main.

In his Modified, Drake timed in second fastest overall in qualifying but was an early retiree from the feature to save equipment.

On Thursday afternoon at Macon Speedway (Macon, Ill.) for the 41st annual Herald & Review 100, Drake recorded the sixth fastest time in his Late Model group but was taken out by another competitor in his heat race, ending his night early.

After a heat race win positioned him third on the starting grid for the Modified feature, Troutman rebounded on the high-side late in the feature to finish fourth. He trailed Mike Harrison, Bobby Stremme, and Ray Bollinger to the checkers with Guy Taylor coming in fifth.

On Friday evening at Farmer City Raceway (Farmer City, Ill.) with his Late Model sidelined, Drake followed up the second fastest time in his Modified group with a heat race victory. Losing two spots in the 25-lap feature, Troutman scored a fifth-place finish, which came behind Nick Hoffman, Mike McKinney, Michael Ledford, and Kyle Steffens.
