PPM Goes To School During First National Open Appearance

PETERSEN MEDIA: Taking on the PA Posse over the weekend during the Champion Racing Oil National Open, Parker Price-Miller would go to school in what was his first ever appearance at the famed Williams Grove Speedway.

“Williams Grove is a tough place, and it was an extremely talented field of cars over the weekend,” Price-Miller said. “I feel like I learned a ton, and the guys did a really good job of giving me a good car each time out. I made some mistakes and it cost us a little, but I am pleased with the progress we made.”

Thursday night kicked off the three-day extravaganza and Price-Miller got off to a great start as he timed the MonDak Portables/Ft. Union Supply and Trading/Townline Variety backed No. 4 machine in third quickest in his time trial flight.

Finishing third in his heat race, the Kokomo, IN pilot would transfer into the preliminary night feature event where he would grid the field from the 10th starting spot. Showing good speed at Williams Grove Speedway, restarts were not kind to the youngster. Slipping back a couple of positions during the course of the feature, PPM close the National Open with a 16th place finish.

Taking a spot in the Summer Nationals make up feature that took place after the regularly scheduled race, PPM would get another crack at the track though it was extremely slick and rubber had gone down on the surface. Trying something since they were at the tail end of the field, Price-Miller would have a tough time gaining track position but would take the checkered flag with a 19th place finish.

Friday night brought on the second night of the National Open and Price-Miller would admittedly make a mistake in time trials that would plague the rest of the night. Timing the Agee Farms/Champion Brand Lubricants/All Star Performance backed entry in 16th quickest in his time trial flight, Price-Miller would find himself in the fourth row of his heat race.

Finishing ninth, Price-Miller would make a stop in the ‘B’ Main, where his night would come to an end with a 15th place finish. With two preliminary nights in the books, Price-Miller and Destiny Motorsports sat 24th in event points heading into Saturday’s finale.

Heat races would be lined up straight off of points, and Price-Miller would kick his night off by taking the green flag from the fifth starting spot in the fourth heat race. Needing to finish in the Top-Four to move into the National Open feature, Price-Miller would get off to a sluggish start as he finished fifth and was again bound for the ‘B’.

Taking the green flag from the seventh starting spot, Price-Miller would lose a couple of positions in the first couple of laps and the pressure would turn up. Trying to fight his way back towards a transfer, Price-Miller would end his night with a 12th place finish.

“It really is a tough place, and I am grateful I was able to get three nights in a row there to try and learn with these guys,” Parker Price-Miller added. “I have to thank Noisey, Tyler, and Jr for all of their hard work, as well as Rick and Barb Roger, my family, and all of our partners for making this possible.”
