PETERSEN MEDIA: Hoping to shake some bad luck while taking a week off from racing, Paul McMahan’s return to the Destiny Motorsports machine would see some good runs stalled out by some bad luck.

“I was really pleased with how fast our car was all three night’s,” Paul McMahan said. “We literally just had some bad luck hinder us each night.”

Making his first start back at the Hartford Speedway, McMahan came out the box fast as he timed the MonDak Portables/Ft. Union Supply and Trading/Rick Rogers Construction No. 7 entry in fourth fastest in qualifying time trials.

Picking up a win in his heat race, McMahan would punch his ticket into the Dash, where he would finish in the fifth spot and put himself in the third row of the feature event.

Having a strong car in the feature event, McMahan would battle inside the Top-10 during much of the feature event, but restarts seemed to plague him. Late in the race, his tire pressure would start to go down, and he would lose a couple of positions on restarts, and end up finishing 11th.

Traveling to the famed Eldora Speedway on Friday night, the Hendersonville, TN driver would time in ninth fastest in his qualifying flight and go on to finish fourth in his heat race.

Gridding the field from the seventh row, McMahan would show some good speed on the famed ½ mile as he worked his way inside the Top-10 in the race’s closing laps. Getting up into the ninth spot by the 23rd lap, the red flag would fly and it would prove detrimental for McMahan and company.

When officials went to re-fire cars for the final seven laps of the feature event, McMahan’s machine would not fire and his night would come to a close with an 18th place finish.

Trekking to the Lernerville Speedway for Saturday night’s Commonwealth Clash, McMahan would open the night up by timing in 11th fastest.

Running third in his heat race to Donny Schatz and Sye Lynch, McMahan would line up in the 11th spot of the feature event.

McMahan’s hopes of an event free night came to a close on the race’s opening lap when a fellow competitor got out of shape in front of him and with nowhere to go, he would get upside down.
Heading to the work area, McMahan’s Destiny Motorsports crew along with members from several other teams went to work on the No. 7 machine and got the car back on the speedway.

Aboard a beat up car, McMahan would do what we could from the back of the pack as he clawed his way up to finish in the 17th spot.

“I have to thank my guys for all of their hard work during a frustrating week, but I also have to thank each and every person that came over and helped us get back on track,” Paul McMahan said. “It was nice to get back in the car, and hopefully our luck can turn this week in PA.”

Destiny Motorsports would like to thank MonDak Portables, Ft. Union Supply and Trading, Rick Rogers Construction, Maxim Chassis, Boss Signs and Graphics, FK Shocks, PPM Titanium Products, Speedway Engines, Driver Websites, Petersen Media, FK Rod Ends, KSE Racing Products, ButlerBuilt, Simpson Race Products, Keizer Wheels, DMI, Red Devil Brakes, Champion Oil, All Pro Cylinder Heads, and Hoosier Tire for their continued support.
