Can-Am Speedway Looking To Beat Mother Nature on Armed Forces Tribute Night
It seems like it has been forever since the stars of the Can Am Speedway have seen the track but this weekend everyone will be set for action, as we salute our Armed Forces.
Just to refresh everyone the last time we ran at the speedway, familiar faces returned to victory lane on May 12th.
Tim Fuller, who is looking to claim his third straight Whitesboro Plow Shop DIRTCar 358 Modified title, claimed his first win of the year and 39th modified win at Can Am.
Gavin Eisle started the season with two disappointing weeks in the Bob Johnson Auto Group DIRTCar Sportsman, but rebounded and passed Kingston Ontario’s Greg Brinklow with two laps to go to claim his first win of the season.
Brady Howard proved his first career win was no fluke as he went back to back in Donath Motorworx Limited Sportsman. Josh Verne Jr. wants victory lane all to himself, as he is three for three to start the year in Panther Frameworx 602 Crate Sprint Car competition.
Sid Harmer Jr. notched his first of the year in the FABCO DIRTCar Pro Stocks, while Justin Pope overcame two flat tires to edge out points leader Francis White for the win, in the Sundance Leisure Thundercar division.
This Friday the Eastern Ontario Vintage Stock Car Club will begin the first of three races this weekend, as they join the Can Am field for Armed Forces night. They head to Brockville Saturday and finish out the weekend in Cornwall.
Also on the card will be the Whitesboro Plow Shop DIRTCar 358 Modifieds, Bob Johnson Auto Group DIRTCar Sportsman, Sundance Leisure Thundercars and Donath Motorworx Limited Sportsman. The FABCO DIRTCar Pro stocks and Panther Framewrx 602 Crate Sprints have the night off.
Gates open at 5pm with the first green flag of the night dropping at 7pm. To keep up with what is happening at the speedway, visit our website at racecanam.com. Or for instant updates, follow Can Am on Facebook.
ANNUAL CHILDREN'S MIRACLE NETWORK EVENT:
A special night is planned for Friday night at Can-Am Speedway in LaFargeville, New York. For 35 years, Walmart has been helping families in their communities by raising funds for Children’s Miracle Network (CMN). Every year around this time each Walmart store sets a goal they strive to reach by the end of the month. Here in the North Country 100% of all funds raised stay local and go directly to children in our community through Samaritan Medical Center (SMC).
For the 3rd year in a row, Walmart of Evans Mills has teamed up with Can-Am Speedway to achieve (and hopefully exceed) their CMN goal! We have some exciting opportunities planned for the night to help! You can look forward to:
In the midway from 5pm - 7pm:
- Cover the Pace Truck with Balloons
- Basket Raffles
- Driver Dunk Tank
On the front stretch during intermission:
- Pie - A - Driver
Please Note: The Driver Dunk Tank & Pie - A - Driver Lineup Is Coming Soon!
