Sides Heading to Pennsylvania for Silver Cup and Summer Nationals

Inside Line Promotions – ROSSBURG, Ohio (July 23, 2019) – Jason Sides is bound for Pennsylvania for a trio of World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series this week.

The action begins Tuesday at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver for the Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup before races on Friday and Saturday at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg for the Champion Racing Oil Summer Nationals.

“We stopped by Kistler’s and swapped a worn motor so hopefully we have some good luck the next few races with a fresh motor,” he said. “The biggest thing is when you get in there the luck of the draw can determine where you’re going to run. I’m not sure what the best scenario is, but I know you need to be out early for qualifying.”

Sides and teammate Tim Kaeding tackled four races at Eldora Speedway last week.

“We didn’t fare well,” Sides said. “You toss it out and move on to the next one. You can’t dwell on the last race.”

Sides got behind in qualifying each night before missing the heat race inversion by only one spot during Saturday’s Kings Royal. He would have garnered the pole position for a heat race if he was one spot quicker in qualifying. Instead he started seventh in a heat race and was unable to make it to third to lock into the main event.

“That was everything,” he said. “We had one more car to go and were 36th. That last car bumped us. We weren’t that good. When it started backing up we thought we might hit it right, but it didn’t happen either.”

Kaeding had a better week in time trials, qualifying in the top six in his group on Wednesday and Thursday before timing in 12th overall on Saturday.

“It’s a catch 22,” Sides said. “When it’s like that it’s tough, but any time you go there with a six heat format it makes it really tough.”

Kaeding capped the main events on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday by finishing 20th. He won the C Main and charged from 19th to 10th in the Last Chance Showdown on Saturday.
