Sides Aiming for Continued Success at AGCO Jackson Nationals

Inside Line Promotions – BEAVER DAM, Wis. (June 25, 2019) – Jason Sides is heading to one of his favorite tracks this weekend.
Sides and the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series will venture to Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minn., for the 41st annual AGCO Jackson Nationals. The event pays $41,000 to win the finale.
“It’s a good, big event for us and we seem to run decent there,” he said. “They cut the track down to a 4/10 mile, but it races pretty much the same as before. It still races like a half mile and we like those.”
Sides has earned a pair of top 10s at the track during each of the last two years, including a ninth-place run during the event finale last season. He was also a winner at the oval in 2012 during an Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions event.
Sides competed last Saturday at Beaver Dam Raceway, which hosted the Jim “JB” Boyd Memorial presented by Karavan Trailers. He qualified 13th quickest, but made up for it by maneuvering from fifth to third place in a heat race.
“We were the first car out in qualifying and didn’t end up where we wanted to be,” he said. “With the track the way it was we had a good run in the heat race and got ourselves toward the front in the feature.”
Sides lined up on the inside of the fourth row for the A Main.
“I made a few mistakes in the race,” he said. “We were decent, but I felt like we could have been better. I tried a few things that didn’t work out like sliding across and letting someone get by.
“The bottom was okay for the start and restarts. Late in the race the momentum you could carry around the top was so much better. Eventually it laid rubber and we moved up there. We probably stayed on the bottom too long.”
Sides ended with an 11th-place outing.
Sunday’s show at Dubuque Speedway in Dubuque, Iowa, rained out.
