TBJ set for four-race weekend in Kansas
Inside Line Promotions – WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. (May 22) – Tony Bruce Jr. is really looking forward to this weekend.
Like really, really looking forward to it. Especially after a frustrating night last Saturday at the Hooker Hood Classic at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Ark.
Bruce Jr., who drove for Clifford Young, battled magneto issues all night and finished eighth in both his heat race and B Main.
“The car was spot on,” Bruce Jr. said. “We didn’t have to work on the car at all. It just had some firing issues. It had a miss in the engine and it kept getting worse as the night went on.
“I really want to thank Clifford and Don Young for letting me drive their car and I hope we can work together in the future.”
Not only is Bruce Jr. looking to get back on the track for redemption, but this weekend is a four-race event throughout Kansas – including two of his TBJ Promotions’ races at The Great American Dirt Track at Jetmore Motorplex in Jetmore on Saturday and Sunday.
“Having four races in a row is a race car driver’s dream,” he said. “It’s awesome to get four nights in a row in Kansas in front of these dedicated fans.”
The Liberal, Kan., native kicks off the weekend on Friday at RPM Speedway in Hays, which is a high-banked, 3/8th-mile dirt oval that he has never competed at.
Bruce Jr. will then race – and put on – the 3rd annual Steve King Memorial presented by The Oil Medics at The Great American Dirt Track at Jetmore Motorplex the ensuing two nights before wrapping up the weekend at 81 Speedway in Park City on Monday.
“I grew up racing at Jetmore and Park City,” he said. “I’m really looking forward to racing in front of the fan base that watched me grow up on the track.”
