Inside Line Promotions – PORT ROYAL, Pa. (Sept. 9, 2020) – Brian Brown scored a podium and a trio of top 10s during a four-race weekend in Central Pennsylvania.
Racing continues versus the Pennsylvania Posse with the famed $53,000-to-win Tuscarora 50 weekend this Thursday through Saturday at Port Royal Speedway.
Sept. 4 – Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa. – Qualifying: 6; Heat race: 4 (1); Feature: 7 (12).
“We unloaded there not as good as we’ve been in the past, but I think we got better as the night went on,” Brown said. “We were too tight. We’ve been too tight the majority of the year. There was an open red and we tried some stuff. The stuff we tried I feel we can use next time and be better throughout the whole night.”
Sept. 5 – Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal, Pa. – Heat race: 1 (1); Feature: 8 (12).
“The track was getting slick right away,” Brown said. “It was probably the best we’ve been in the slick at Port Royal during the heat race. In the feature we weren’t very good. I think we were back to around 15th at one point. There was a red and we could try stuff there as well. I’m not pleased with running eighth, but I am happy knowing the progress we’ve made and that there’s room to grow.”
Sept. 6 – Selinsgrove Speedway in Selinsgrove, Pa. – Heat race: 5 (9); Feature: 3 (10).
“We were the quickest car hot lapping and then we went from ninth to fifth in the heat race,” Brown said. “That gave us enough passing points to start 10th in the A Main. It was the best we’ve been out here. We were able to go 10th to third in the A Main during a race that went non-stop. When we got to fourth we were four and a half seconds behind the leader and at one point we were racing with the leader so that shows the speed we had in the car.”
Sept. 7 – Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal, Pa. – Heat race: 5 (9); Feature: 23 (20).
“It was a day show and being 90 degrees made it take rubber quickly,” Brown said. “We got to fifth in the heat and that started us 20th in the A Main. By the time the A Main started it was laying rubber. I tried to make something happen on the start and I bent a wheel and broke the Jacob’s Ladder. We ended up pulling off early. I talked with the promoter after the race and he said they are looking at ways to improve the Labor Day program. The good thing about Port Royal is they are always trying to make the racing and facility better.”
UP NEXT – Thursday through Saturday at Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal, Pa., for the 53rd annual Tuscarora 50 with the Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1
“I feel like every night out here we have been pretty decent throughout the night; we just haven’t put a whole night together,” Brown said. “We’ve only been able to qualify one night. The other nights have been passing points. I’m looking forward to getting back to an All Star format this weekend. That format will fit our program a little bit better.
“It’s such a hard event. Thursday and Friday is more normal. On Saturday you want to qualify good, but then win your heat from fourth. It makes it difficult, but these big events should be difficult. I’m not saying I’m the most confident as I’ve been going into the Tuscarora 50 weekend, but I feel we have put things together that we can contend.”
