ON DAY SIX, BRIAN BROWN CONTINUES TO LEAD THE COX DESIGN IOWA SPEED WEEK POINTS

Following the first six features of the ten-race 2014 Cox Design & Metal Fabrication Iowa Speed Week, ‘360’ Knoxville Nationals champion and Oskaloosa Front Row Challenge winner Brian Brown of Missouri continues to lead the point standings which will crown this year’s Jesse Hockett “Mr. Sprint Car” titlist. On Monday, Brown won the nineteenth annual American Sprint Car Series (ASCS)-sanctioned Casey’s General Stores/Musco Lighting Front Row Challenge, presented by Don Long’s Searsboro Telephone Company, for winged 360-cubic-inch sprint cars at the Southern Iowa Speedway in nearby Oskaloosa. The series continues this week with FVP Knoxville Nationals, presented by Casey’s General Stores, on Wednesday (preliminary feature), Thursday (preliminary feature), Friday (SPEED SPORT Knoxville World Challenge), and Saturday (national championship feature).

The unofficial top sixteen in the 2014 Cox Design Iowa Speed Week points after six days is as follows: 1., Brian Brown, 197 points; 2., Mark Dobmeier, 180 points; 3., Jason Johnson, 164 points; 4., Tony Bruce, Jr., 159 points; 5., Sam Hafertepe, Jr., 136 points; 6., Ian Madsen, 135 points; 7., Davey Heskin, 127 points; 8., Randy Hannagan, Wayne Johnson, 126 points (tied); 10., Bronson Maeschen, 123 points; 11., Terry McCarl, 121 points; 12., Jonathan Cornell, 119 points; 13., Tim Shaffer, 117 points; 14., Danny Lasoski, 114 points; 15., Sammy Swindell, 108 points; 16., Kevin Swindell, 98 points.

The Cox Design & Metal Fabrication Iowa Speed Week includes ten points-paying sprint car feature races in ten days, July 31 - August 9, between the Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville and the Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa. The top three places pay $2,500, $1,000, and $500, respectively, with the winner declared the Jesse Hockett “Mr. Sprint Car” titlist.
