Roseburg, Oregon- The Douglas County Dirt Track fired up for another round of Friday night action on June 7th. The Roseburg 3/10th-mile clay oval attracted a strong field of cars in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified and Friesen Performance IMCA Northern Sport Mod divisions.

The Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main event started with a display of hometown pride, as Bennett Bray took the lead on the opening lap. A caution after the completion of the first circuit added a dramatic twist, setting the stage for a gripping restart. Stayton's Grey Ferrando showcased his skill and determination, maneuvering his way around the outside of Bray when the race resumed.

The race was a fierce battle for some of the top positions, with Ferrando establishing a significant lead and the fight for second place heating up. Defending Oregon State champion Carter Patterson, from Lebanon, and 2019 Shaw Race Cars Western Region title winner Bricen James, of Albany, put on a thrilling show, each vying for the runner-up position.

James obtained second from Patterson on lap nine, but Patterson had to take it back on the twelfth trip past the flag stand. Things got intense with five to go in lapped traffic. As Ferrando easily negotiated traffic, Patterson and James continued their determination to get the runner-up position.

Patterson would start to pull away but was caught and overtaken on lap twenty-three by James. Ferrando would be first to the checkers as he scored his third win of 2024 in the Shaw Race Cars Western Region and is the third different facility he has won at this season.

James wound up second, followed by Patterson in third. Forest Grove's Trevor La Barge was the fourth-place finisher, while fifth was credited to Devon Reed from Woodland, Washington.

In the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern Sport Mods, Trevor Points started the party as the leader. A trio of cautions in the first few laps no doubt created a bit of frustration for the Salem teenager. Once a long green flag run developed, Jordan Henry surged toward the leader and, by the eighth circuit, had reeled him in.

Points began to feel pressure and was overtaken on lap nine by Roseburg's Jordan Henry. Henry would hit a bit of traffic the thirteenth time around, and before too long, Points was challenging to reclaim the top place position. Points persistence finally paid off on lap sixteen when he made a sweeping pass in turn four.

Points pulled away from the rest of the competition to earn his first win of 2024. Henry wound up second over third finishing Jacob Shandy, from Corvallis. Roseburg's Don Moore was fourth at the wire, with fifth going to Dustin Comer of Springfield.
