Kaleb Johnson Bound for Jackson Motorplex and Huset’s Speedway This Weekend

Inside Line Promotions – ROCK RAPIDS, Iowa (July 25, 2023) – A pair of home tracks fills the upcoming racing schedule for Kaleb Johnson.
The action begins on Friday at Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minn., for a Midwest Sprint Touring Series and Midwest Power Series event.
Johnson finished fourth during his only 360ci winged sprint car start at the track this year and he earned a trio of top fives during three 360 sprint car races at the dirt oval last year as well as during the 2021 finale, giving him a five-race streak of top fives in the division at Jackson Motorplex.
“I feel I’ve gotten pretty comfortable there the past couple of years in a 360,” he said. “It’s a place we know we’re good at so I’m definitely looking forward to it. It doesn’t race like Knoxville, but it’s like a mini-Knoxville. It fits my style where you have to be smooth and keep your speed up. Racing at Knoxville has helped me not only there, but at other tracks as well.”
The weekend wraps up on Sunday at Huset’s Speedway in Brandon, S.D., where Johnson ranks 10th in the championship standings thanks to three top fives this season.
“I feel confident at Huset’s and we’re getting speed,” he said. “We just need to qualify a little better, but we’re putting ourselves in contention.”
Johnson competed once last week when he tackled the Lyon County Fair Race presented by Folkens Brothers Trucking at Rapid Speedway a week ago Tuesday.
A run from fifth to second place in a Midwest Sprint Touring Series heat race earned a spot into the feature redraw. Johnson pulled the No. 2 to start the A Main on the outside of the front row. He was battling for a spot on the podium when a last-lap crash resulted in an 18th-place finish.
“I hopped a tire on the last lap trying to pass a guy who ran out of fuel,” he said. “I was trying to pass on the inside and when I hit his left rear tire I pulled a wheelie. It came down pretty hard and I couldn’t steer the thing. We slid into an infield tire.”
