Inside Line Promotions – GERMANTOWN, Tenn. (Oct. 2, 2017) – Sammy Swindell is scheduled to compete in Colorado this weekend for the first time in approximately two decades.

Swindell and car owner A.G. Rains are making the long haul to compete on Friday and Saturday at El Paso County Raceway in Calhan, Colo., for the Colorado ASCS Fall Nationals with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.

“It will be a new race track for me,” Swindell said. “We’ll see if we can keep this bit of a run we’ve got going moving along. We have some wins and good finishes lately and hopefully that will continue.”

Swindell and Rains were victorious during the first two rounds of the Jesse Hockett/Daniel McMillin Memorial before finishing fourth in the finale during their most recent event.

“We still have to have that bit of things going our way,” Swindell said. “We didn’t have that the first part of the year. A lot of times having to start toward the back you get involved in things. If we can get those decent starting spots and at least give ourselves a chance I don’t see any reason for us not to have quite a few more wins before the end of the year.”

Swindell said his last race in Colorado was likely in July 1995 with the Camping World Truck Series. The event came 11 days after he won a World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series race at Rocky Mountain Speedway in Commerce City.

Swindell, who has been victorious in Colorado in a non-wing sprint car, a midget and a winged sprint car, raced at that track several times and he competed with the World of Outlaws at Colorado National Speedway in Erie, Colo., a handful of times as well in the 1970s and 1980s.

Swindell was slated to race a pavement midget last weekend with the Northeastern Midget Association, but the event was rained out.
