Robards does triple duty in Tulsa; seven drivers compete for RS12

RS12 Motorsports mainstay Harrison Robards closed out his 2023 campaign with a three-division slate of racing in the Tulsa Shootout at Tulsa Expo Raceway inside the SageNet Center (Tulsa, Oklahoma) during the last week of December.

Robards began his week on Wednesday in the Winged Outlaw division at the 1/5-mile clay oval, where his Spartan Transportation No. 12R was one of 248 entries. “Dirty Harry'' finished 10th in his Wednesday heat race, putting him in a D-Main the following day. Robards came fifth in his “D,” one position shy of a transfer spot.

Also on Thursday, Robards competed in the Winged A-Class, turning in a seventh-place result behind the wheel of his No. 11R ride in one of 40 heats necessary for the staggering 395 competitors. Robards next raced in the Winged A-Class on Friday, concluding his run in the division with an 11th-place result in his D-Main.

Robards rounded out the Tulsa Shootout in the 144-car strong Restricted A-Class. He drove his No. 11R machine to an eighth-place result in his heat on Thursday, putting him in a C-Main on Saturday. He finished sixth in the race, and with only three drivers advancing, his event came to a close.

The young driver finished the 2023 season with a total of 14 top-five finishes and 29 top-10 results.
He also was one of seven racers competing out of the RS12 Motorsports stable for a chance at a prestigious Golden Driller in Tulsa.

Brody Strong took part in four divisions, finishing fourth in his C-Main in Winged Outlaw, ninth in his “C” in Non-Wing Outlaw, 6th in his C-Feature in Winged A-Class and sixth in his C-Main in Stock Non-Wing.

Allen Cope meanwhile advanced to two races held during the event’s Sunday finale. He turned in a ninth-place result in his Non-Wing Outlaw B-Main and 12th in his Winged Outlaw “B.”

Chase McDermand raced to seventh in his Winged Outlaw C-Feature and finished 11th in his Non-Wing Outlaw B-Main.

Kurt Westerfield also competed in two classes, driving to 12th in his Winged Outlaw C-Main and 14th in his Non-Wing Outlaw “B.”

Finally, Lincoln Martin and Dalton Clary took part in one class apiece. Martin came home ninth in his Restricted A-Class C-Feature, while Dalton Clary finished seventh in his Junior Sprints B-Main.
