Kraig Kinser Scores an Eighth-Place Finish in Opener at Eldora Speedway Mother Nature Wins Finale

Granger, IA—May 8, 2011—Mother Nature was looking for an early Mother’s Day gift on Friday at Eldora Speedway, but Kraig Kinser and the rest of the World of Outlaws drivers were not about to let her take another race from them, despite some showers and rain prior to hot laps. A full night of racing was on tap and that’s exactly what was completed in the opener of the Outlaw Thunder Presented by Goodyear Weekend at the famed half-mile. For Kinser that meant a strong charge to finish eighth, as he continues to build momentum in his first season aboard the Casey’s General Store Maxim for Parsons Motorsports.

Kinser opened the night by turning the 16th fastest lap in time trials with a very strong 39-car field in attendance. That put him on the pole of the fourth heat race. The native of Bloomington, Ind., finished third in the heat, just one spot shy of earning a spot in the dash.

Kraig lined up16th in the 30-lap main event and lost a few spots on the opening circuit. He gained a couple of position back when the caution flew on the fifth circuit. A strong restart on the sixth lap found the third generation driver in 15th. He gained another spot on the next lap before another yellow flag was displayed.

By the ninth go-around, Kinser had worked his way up to 13th and gained another spot on the next lap. He broke into the Top-10 on the 24th lap, getting by Daryn Pittman to take ninth. Kraig would gain one final spot with two laps to go, passing Chad Kemenah to come home eighth to earn his sixth Top-10 finish of the season and his eighth career Top-10 at Eldora in a World of Outlaws event.

The finale of the two-day Outlaw Thunder Presented By Goodyear at Eldora was rained out and will not be made up. The World of Outlaws return to the famed half-mile on July 15-16 for the Kings Royal.

Kinser, who is currently 10th in points, returns to action on Friday, May 13 and Saturday, May 14 at the legendary Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania for the Spring Nationals along with the inaugural Morgan Cup challenge race, of which he will be one of five drivers representing the World of Outlaws against the Pennsylvania Posse.
