Fifth Win for Lunstra/Dobmeier Motorsports
The Lunstra/Dobmeier team started their typical race weekend this past Friday up in Grand Forks, ND at Mark’s home track of River Cities Speedway. Again with high point average, Mark started at the tail of the field in the heat race to begin the night and throughout the very short 8 lap contest, Mark drove through the entire field to come out in front at the time the checkered flag was dropped. He used the entire racetrack to get around the nine other competitors and proved once again that he was the king of River Cities Speedway. “That was a lot of fun,” explains Mark, “The track was very ‘racey’ and I used all of it to climb through the field. The Senske & Son Delta Oil car was perfect; if I had to go high the car would stick and it was super fast on the bottom. The guys’ did an awesome job!” Unfortunately, the rain began to fall after the heat races and ended the night early not allowing the Lunstra/Dobmeier #13 the attempt of their 4th straight feature win at the track.
The guys’ loaded up and took off to Knoxville for the second night in the Lunstra/Dobmeier weekend schedule, but they got to Des Moines and found out that the races at the historic ½ mile were cancelled for the evening due to rain.
The next evening was the double feature night at Huset’s Speedway in Brandon, SD. To start out the show, Huset’s had their make-up feature to finish off a rain shortened event from the 31st of May. Starting fifth for the 25 lap contest on the super heavy one-lane no passing race track, Mark was able to advance one position to finish fourth. “That’s just how the track normally is at the beginning of the night here at Huset’s, comments Dobmeier, “The start was critical and we didn’t get the best of one, but we took it as we could and still advanced, so that always makes us happy.”
After the make-up feature, it was time to begin the regularly scheduled program and Mark went out and set a 10th quick lap with an 11.107. Finishing fourth in the heat race would set the Senske & Son Delta Oil #13 on the second row for the main. With 8 laps to go in the 25 lap feature, Dobmeier took the lead from Australian native Lynton Jeffery in turn three and lead the remaining laps to get the 2nd win of the season on the high banked dirt oval of Huset’s Speedway. “I felt very good going into tonight, announces Dobmeier, “The guys’ had the car set up perfect once again and I was very determined to put the car up front early on. Lynton was stuck on the bottom very well and wasn’t allowing any room, so I went to the high side and bounced the car through the rough and made it stick.”
Next up for the team is the much anticipated World of Outlaw show at Mark’s home track of River Cities Speedway coming up this Friday in which two of the teams supporters, Big Trucks by Jimco and Right Choice Electric, both out of Grand Forks, are going to each match the $10,000 prize if Mark and the gang are able to put the Lunstra/Dobmeier Motorsports #13 in victory lane this coming Friday. Upcoming results for next Friday’s WoO event can be found on the team’s website, www.markdobmeier.com.
