Aaron Taylor Wins NOS Energy Modified Season Opener!

The NOS Energy Modifieds made their season debut on 5/20/23! See results and summary below!

Heat Race #1 lineup: Jeremy Wallen, Dawson Knaul, Tim Miller, Cody Hall, Dayton Zink, and Erich Harvey (Jeremy Wallen DNS). On lap 1 Dawson Knaul and Tim Miller have a drag race for the lead off 2 and down the back straight away. On lap 2 Tim Miller gets clear of Knaul for the lead. Dayton Zink rookie competitor in the NOS Energy Mods goes high of Knaul while Cody Hall slices by on the inside bringing Erich Harvey with him. Harvey and Hall battle side by side for 2nd. Harvey gets clear of Hall and now turns his attention towards the leader Tim Miller. Within the same lap Erich Harvey is our new leader. Hall gets set up to do battle with Miller for 2nd. Drag race for 2nd is on down the back stretch Hall inside Miller outside. Hall gets clear for 2nd and Dayton Zink pulls the same move down low on Tim Miller. Erich Harvey wins Heat Race #1 with Cody Hall 2nd, Dayton Zink 3rd, and Tim Miller 4th.

Heat Race #2 lineup: Dominique Van Wieringen, Aaron Taylor, Matt Vainner, Jason Parish, Jon McNett (FQ), and Dick Maurer(DNQ). Dominique shows the boys how it's done as she passes defending champion Aaron Taylor on lap 1. Taylor stays on the high side of Van Wieringen to keep the pressure on. Mean while, Matt Vainner gets around Jason Parish for 3rd and Fast Qualifier Jon McNett and Parish battle for 4th. Back at the front Taylor and Vainner battle for 2nd with McNett looking on. Vainner able to get clear of Taylor and brings fast qualifier Jon McNett with him. McNett and Taylor battle for 3rd for roughly half a lap and McNett is able to get by Taylor. Dominique Van Wieringen wins Heat 2 with Matt Vainner 2nd, Jon McNett 3rd, Parish 4th, Aaron Taylor about a half a car length beside Parish for 5th, and Dick Maurer 6th.

Feature Lineup: Dawson Knaul, Tim Miller, Cody Hall Dayton Zink, Erich Harvey, Dominique Van Wieringen, Aaron Taylor, Matt Vainner, Jason Parish, Jon McNett, Jeremy Wallen, and Dick Maurer. Aaron Taylor jumps out to the early lead at the start with Jason Parish and Tim Miller running 2nd and third. Jon McNett and Dominique Van Wieringen battling for 4th and 5th with Matt Vainner looking on in 6th. Dawson Knaul and Cody Hall battle for 7th and 8th. Up at the front Parish runs 2nd with McNett 3rd and Tim Miller and Dominique Van Wieringen battling for 4th and 5th. Van Wieringen wins the battle and sets her sights on teammate Jon McNett. Dick Maurer looks to the inside of Hall for 7th. Matt Vainner brought out our 1st caution when he hit the wall in turn 3. Parish and Taylor battle side by side for the lead once the race resumed. Taylor able to hold on to the lead over Parish. Miller and Maurer do battle for 6th Maurer is able to keep Miller at bay for the moment. McNett and Van Wieringen battle for 3rd. Van Wieringen gets by McNett for 3rd. Cody Hall spins on his own on the front stretch bringing out our 2nd caution. On the restart, Parish does not let Taylor get away on the high side, while Van Wieringen able to pull away from teammate Jon McNett. Miller and Zink do battle for 6th and 7th Zink wins the battle for 6th. Cody Hall and Tim Miller battle for 7th Hall now has 7th. Caution #3 was because of debris. Taylor picks up right where he left off and has the lead while Hall and Zink battle for 6th. Maurer and McNett battle for 4th. McNett able to hold on to 4th. Caution #4 came out when Tim Miller spun in turn 4. On the restart Taylor with the jump while Van Wieringen and Maurer able to pass for 2nd and 3rd. Aaron Taylor 2022 Track Champion is the winner with Dominique Van Wieringen 2nd, Dick Maurer 3rd, Jason Parish 4th, Jon McNett 5th, Dayton Zink 6th, and Tim Miller 7th.
