Full Moon Racing at FTS

Another wild night at the Full Throttle Speedway and it started early. The skies looked ominous most of the day with rain all around the speedway. Once practice was over it started to rain, but quickly stopped just as quick as it started and then it was time for some Wide Open Full Throttle Racing.
The first race of the night was none stop with the Road Warriors. Cody Allen and Richard Nelson would battle it out for all 25 laps bumper to bumper, but in the end it would be Nelson, taking the win. Allen would be 2nd and Shane Leonard would steal the 3rd spot from Chris Loney at the line by a bumper.

The Outlaw Modifieds were lined up for the twin 25's “Dan Curl Memorial.” At the drop of the green flag, the Outlaw Modifieds would prove why they are one of the most exciting series in the state of Florida. Lap after lap drivers would battle for every position on the track. Bumper to bumper and wheel to wheel the drivers pushed there cars, and themselves to the limit. With 10 laps to go, It was still anyone’s race. It was looking to be a 1, 2, 3, finish for Billy, Robert, and Kevin Campbell, but Mike Endee had other plans. Mike Endee’s last race at FTS did not go so well. Having a stuck throttle and slamming the turn 3 wall, was not the way he wanted to kick off the first race of the season. Mike Endee and his father reclipped the totaled car put it back together and had a great run in the 1st 25 lapper. With 5 laps to go Endee made his move on Kevin Campbell and took the 3rd place finish with Robert Campbell in 2nd and Billy Campbell taking the win, with an impressive run from the back of the pack. That would set the field for the 2nd of the twin 25's as it would be a complete field inversion. Once again Billy Campbell would have to make the run from the back of the pack to try to make it 2 in a row. At the drop of the green flag for the 2nd race, the drivers picked up right where they left off in the 1st race. Lap after lap and wheel to wheel the driver would once again duke it out for the top spot. The Campbell boys were trying for a 1, 2, 3, finish for a 2nd time, but would come up short. With about 12 laps to go Kevin Campbell started falling back though the field and it was time for Mike Endee to put his #26 in the top spot and pull away from the rest of the field. Endee had put a straightaway lead on the rest of the field, that was until lap 21. With 4 laps to go, Endee’s car would shut down ending his night. The #04 of Tom Meyer inherited the lead, but he was not alone for the last 4 laps . Robert Campbell and Billy Campbell went to work on Meyer. Lap after lap Meyer held them off crossing the line and taking the win with Robert Campbell on his outside in 2nd and Billy Campbell knocking on the back door finishing 3rd. The Dwarf cars had an exciting night. Darren Bass was on his way to 2 n a row. With 5 laps to go, the track went dark. A power purge knock out the track lights, and the drag strip lights next door. Everyone got their cars stopped safely. After about a 40 minute delay, they resumed the race. Bass would make it 2 in a row, with John Bailey 2nd and Larry Hubbard 3rd.

The Mod Mini class had a good showing of cars Saturday night. The feature race would be one car short and 3 drivers had to call it an early night after and on track altercation during the heat race with the # 6 of Dean Butrum, Dave Davis, and the 01 of Tom Zimmerman. The show must go on. When the checkered flag fell the #68 of Ronnie Allen took the top spot, with #45 of John Sappraicone Jr. in 2nd and #5 Justin Hunt was 3rd.

The James Carter Attorney at Law, Open Wheel Modifieds were gassed up and ready to go. For 25 laps it was nose to tail. Early on it looked like the 71 of LB “Watch this” Skaggs was the car to beat. An early caution took him out of contention with a rub rail hanging off the car. On the restart, Steve Arnold took the lead and held off Ralph Bowman for the win with Eric “The Iceman” Rudd in 3rd. The Take Aim Gun Range, Late Model Sportsman were ready to take aim for the checkered flag. Once again, young Michael Atwell found himself battling for the win with Aaron Williamson, and found he could not make it 2 in a row. Williamson took the win, with Atwell in 2nd and Roger Welch in 3rd.

The Perfect Pest Control, Pro 4 made a repeat of the last race, with Randy Johnson in 1st, Ronnie Robinson 2nd, and JCR Jess in 3rd.

The Cowboy Cadillac’s were ready for a good time with a close 1, 2, 3, finish. Mike Bialccki tried to make the feature race, but couldn’t after a valiant effort to repair his broken transmission. “The Lead foot” John Pummell Jr. took the win again ,with his team mate Ric Mills 2nd, and Ed Snyder a very close 3rd.
The last race of the night was for the kids, as The Perfect Pest Control, Rookie 4's took to the small track. It was patience’s that paid off for young Sherry Best as she took the win again. Zack “Attack” Rogers was 2nd and Marina Petty was 3rd.
