Top-10 finish for Mitchell in Bad Boy 98 finale
Jon Mitchell traveled to Locust Grove, Arkansas’ Batesville Motor Speedway over the weekend for the two-day COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) Bad Boy 98. The 2012 champion of the Super Late Model tour left the 3/8-mile track with a pair of solid results against strong competition.
In a 41-car field on Friday, Mitchell took fifth in his heat race, then used a runner-up result in his B-Main to start 20th in the 30-lap, $5,000-to-win feature. He advanced nine spots in the race to come home 11th.
The following night, Mitchell was among 39 CCSDS drivers in the pit area for the $12,000-to-win finale. After a second-place showing in his heat, Mitchell started from the third row in the 68-lap Saturday main event. Despite failing back during the race, he still finished in the ninth position.
Mitchell now sits fourth in the CCSDS standings.
