Tough Month

It has been a tough month for the Legend Racing team. A successful weekend of racing at the Cedar Lake Speedway in July ended on a sour note as Jared got caught up with a spun car at the beginning of the World of Outlaw feature. The car was bent very badly so we had to go to another chassis which had had run in previous years. The car we wrecked at Cedar Lake had been working very well for us so it was disappointing to lose it but it happens occasionally in sprint car racing.

On July 24, we tried it out at the St. Croix Valley Speedway. The car was not very good at first but we made changes and manged to earn a 5th place starting spot for the feature. After a rain delay, the track was very fast for the feature. We left the car too tight but Jared is very good at running the cushion at that place. He managed to keep the car in the top 5 before getting tangled up with the 20k of Thomas Kennedy. They touched wheels and Jared got upside down and our night was through.

After damaging two cars in two consecutive races, we had to finish up a new KPC chassis to be ready to race with the UMSS in St. Cloud at the Granite City Speedway. This car is quite different than the maxims we have been running. Once again we struggled early and finally got the car to be at least competitive for the feature. Jared held on for an 8th place finish.

From there, we made the trek to the historic half mile in Knoxville, IA for the 360 Nationals. After qualifying 34th out of 48 cars on our qualifying night, we were happy with the position we put ourselves in as our goal was to be one of the top 30 cars in points. However, we continued to struggle the rest of the weekend. Again, we were better on the final night but still couldn't get out of an E-main filled with very strong race cars.

We only have one more event on our calendar for 2015, the Might Axe Nationals at our home track in Brainerd. We intend to work very hard in the coming weeks on getting the cars right and doing some testing at North Central Speedway to put on a good show for the local fans and end the season on a high note.
